The Estevan Police Service responded to a number of calls over the Remembrance Day weekend, with a few notable calls coming through.
On the 8th, police received a report of an individual receiving threats from another person, which is still under investigation.
Another report came in that afternoon of a suspicious person in a south-end mobile home park. Members attended and located the male described, telling him to move along once they found he had no reason to be there.
A driver from an earlier motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian came to the police station to identify himself as the driver. After obtaining a statement the individual was issued a summary offence ticket under the Traffic Safety Act for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
One last report saw EPS respond to youth causing a disturbance in a local business parking lot. Members attended and warned the youth about their behaviour.
More reports came in on the 9th with members hearing about an individual breaching the peace and breaching release conditions. In the complaint, a male was reported as making contact and yelling at the complainant and her child. The matter is still under investigation.
Individuals were reported as being in garbage dumpsters in the community. Two separate males were spoken to by police and warned about getting into the dumpsters.
A report of a disturbance in the Pleasantdale area of the city was also issued, with responding members determining that a parent and their child were having a disagreement over the youth’s behaviour.
On the 10th, a report came in concerning uttering threats and intimidation. Upon further investigation, EPS determined that the occurrence happened in Radville, Saskatchewan. The matter was forwarded to the RCMP in that jurisdiction.
Police are also looking for more information after a utility trailer was stolen, with police making an effort to get the trailer returned.
A traffic stop was made on a 43-year-old male who showed signs of impairment. The male was tested which resulted in a positive result for THC. He was then issued a suspension and the vehicle was impounded.
Police heard a female yelling for help on 4th Street inside the construction zone. Members spoke with the female who stated that an unknown male had threatened to kill her. Despite patrolling the area EPS was not able to locate the man, with the female refusing to provide any further information.
Another traffic stop was made, this time on a 27-year-old male who showed signs of impairment. An oral fluid device was used for a test which resulted in a positive result for THC. After being transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where blood samples were obtained for analysis, the male was issued a driving suspension and the vehicle was impounded, pending results from the blood samples.
Then on the 11th, EPS received one occurrence of fraud concerning an individual renting equipment and then cancelling payment. The second occurrence is regarding money paid for services, after which the complainant did not receive the services as agreed. Both matters remain under investigation.
A complaint came in regarding a disturbance at a residence which resulted in the arrest of an Estevan youth for mischief. The youth was lodged in cells until sober as they were grossly intoxicated at the time. The mischief remains under investigation.
