The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Cross Country Running team capped off its season with a seventh-place finish at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Cross Country Running National Championships.
Melissa Ray (25:23.90), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing student, led the Queens and placed 32nd among her peers. Strathmore’s Justine Larson (25:39.00) was 35th. Myah Cota (25:48.00) followed in 36th. Georgia Sawchuk (27:01.50), a Bachelor of Science in Psychology student, ranked 54th. Kammy Park (27:50.80) was 67th . Sylvan Lake’s Zoey Longman (28:41.20) placed 74th . Cégep Garneau won its third consecutive national women’s team title.
Cégep de Sainte-Foy picked up silver. The Mohawk Mountaineers solidified bronze.
The student-athletes on the RDP Cross Country Running team will shift their focus to Indoor Track, which will begin January 25 in Edmonton.
