A busy Tuesday for the Estevan Police Service (EPS) as officers responded to various incidents, including a motor vehicle collision, property theft, and disturbances. They also handled an unusual call involving an injured pigeon and addressed complaints about youth trespassing and littering.
The first incident involved a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of King Street and Souris Avenue. The matter remains under investigation.
In a separate incident, EPS responded to a report of property theft from an unsecured vehicle, with several tools taken. The investigation continues, and EPS reminds the public to secure their vehicles and property to prevent theft.
Officers were called to a disturbance at a local multiplex, where two tenants were in a dispute over property. Police initially mediated the situation, but tensions flared again shortly after. EPS returned to the scene and successfully negotiated the return of the disputed property, resolving the matter for the evening.
An unusual call came from a local business owner who found an injured banded pigeon. With help from police dispatch, the owner contacted the bird’s rightful owner in Manitoba and arranged for the bird's safe return.
EPS also responded to several complaints from citizens and property owners about youth gathering on a property and littering. One complaint led to an individual being issued a summary offence ticket for littering, with a voluntary payment of $580.
Finally, police responded to a call at a local hotel where a customer had failed to check out by the required time and was uncooperative. Officers ensured the guest left without further incident.
