Over 30 per cent of voters turnout for municpal election

More voter came out to cast their ballot in the 2024 municipal election compared to the 2020 election.

Out of about 27,264 eligible voters, 8,606 voters cast their ballots in Wednesday's election for a turnout of about 31.6 per cent. During the 2020 election, about 22 per cent of voters turned out.

Polling division 1 in the north end of the city has a voter turnout of 1,622. Polling division 2, the north east end of the city had 971 people cast their ballots. There were 1,378 people who voted in polling division 3 in the north west side of the city. The south end of the city in polling division 4 had 1,366 voters. Finally, 3,269 voters cast their ballots either through advance polls, mail-in ballots or homebound voting.
