Maple Creek Election Results
Maple Creek has their town council in place to servce for the next four years.
Len Barkman, Betty Abbot, Corrine Collura, Leah Baratta, Tina Cresswell and Shane Wurtz will fill out the council table.
There were seven candidates for the six spots on council.
Barkman had the most votes with 283.
Mayor Michelle McKenzie was elected by acclamation.
Dyck first female reeve for RM of Swift Current
Romona Dyck is the new reeve in the RM of Swift Current No 137.
Dyck had 242 votes to outgoing councillor Richard Kehler's 213 and Esther Wall's 56.
She is the first woman reeve and first woman to ever serve on the RM of Swift Current's council.
Dyck is joined on council by William Neufeld in Division 1, Donovan Campbell in Division 3 and Ky Hastings in Division 5.
All three were elected by acclamation and Campbell is an incumbent.
Ramage returns for sixth term on Chinook School Board
Incumbent trustee for the Chinook School Board, Tim Ramage, was re-elected to serve his sixth term on the school board.
Ramage has sat on the Chinook School Board since its inception and is looking forward to continuing to do what he enjoys and ensuring a better learning experience for students.
"I'm just excited to be back on the school board and represent our kids and youth, I want to do the best I can to make sure they have a great learning environment," he said.
Caswell captures seat on Chinook School Board
Swift Current's Ron Caswell secured one of three seats on the Chinook School Board, with the other two spots going to incumbent trustees.
The former power engineer is hoping to focus on addressing issues with class complexity and give the parents of students a voice.
"I'm quite happy with the result, I'm very much looking forward to hitting the ground running and seeing what we can accomplish in the next four years," the newly elected trustee said.
Gull Lake welcomes new mayor and council
Nasser Zanidean is the new mayor of Gull Lake.
He beat Dennis Kirk 212 to 144 votes in yesterday's municipal election.
A four-term councillor, Zanidean will now move to the big chair.
He is joined on council by Terry Stevenson, Tyson Migneault, Karen Turton, Neal Boutin, Brandon Wessner and Steve Haithwaite.
359 people voted in the election and Stevenson led the pack with 304 votes.
Shaunavon elects new mayor and six councillors
Town council in Shaunavon will be filled with new faces as a result of Wednesday's municipal election.
Local business owner Cal Vance beat Drew Grainger in a close race to become mayor, with Vance receiving 375 votes to Grainger's 309.
Vance will be joined at the council table by six new councillors.
Over 30 per cent of voters turnout for municpal election
More voter came out to cast their ballot in the 2024 municipal election compared to the 2020 election.
Out of about 27,264 eligible voters, 8,606 voters cast their ballots in Wednesday's election for a turnout of about 31.6 per cent. During the 2020 election, about 22 per cent of voters turned out.
Familiar faces returning to city council
Five of the six candidates elected will be familiar faces after being elected to Moose Jaw City Councillors on Wednesday night.
Winning seats on Moose Jaw City Council were Jamey Logan, Patrick Boyle, Chris Warren, Heather Eby, Dawn Luhning and Carla Delaurier
Jamey Logan was re-elected as the top vote-getter with 4,382 votes. This will be Logan’s second term on city council. He was first elected in 2020.
Murdock honoured to be elected Moose Jaw’s 42nd mayor
James Murdock won in a landslide on Wednesday night to become Moose Jaw’s 42nd mayor.
Murdock took home 63.7 per cent of the vote with 5,437 votes. The next closest contender with Crystal Froese with 1,439 votes, a difference of 3,998 votes.
Speaking after the election, Murdock said it was truly an honour to be elected the mayor of Moose Jaw.
One new face joins veterans on Chinook School Division Board
Swift Current is sending two experienced trustees and a new face to the Chinook School Division Board.
Tim Ramage and Dianne Hahn return to the board with 1252 votes and 1181 votes respectively.
Ramage has been on the school board since 2005, while this is Hahn's third term.
Ron Caswell edged out incumbent Ken Duncalfe 1151 to 1113.
William Reil finished 5th with 407 votes.
