Voters across southeast Saskatchewan went to the polls on Nov. 13 to elect mayors and councillors, with communities including Bienfait, Carlyle, and Lampman seeing tight races.
In Bienfait, Ken Bonokoski won the mayor's seat, and six councillors were elected from a field of seven candidates. David Johnson received 107 votes, Dennis Gonas 117, Paul Caroll 98, Melissa Rensby 97, Daniyale Woolsey 88, and Bill Mann 123. Diedra Maurer narrowly missed a seat with 83 votes.
Carlyle had one councillor position to fill, with Tracy Van Dresar securing 119 votes. Mayor Jenn Sedor and other councillors were acclaimed.
In Lampman, Scott Greening was elected mayor with 153 votes. The six councillors elected were Dena Scott with 165 votes, Kelly Storlie 148, Roy (RJ) Raynard 123, Ryan Saxon 112, Daryle Runge 116, and Jadon Carnduff 114.
Kisbey elected Elisa Jackson as mayor with 45 votes. The four councillors are John Dayman with 56 votes, Kalvin Nankivell 57, Brody Singleton 57, and Sheldon Wyatt 60.
In Midale, Mayor Al Hauglum was acclaimed. The councillors elected were Gregg Prawdzik and Ryan Thompson, each with 101 votes; Clinton Lund with 97; Melissa Brady with 90; Armond Hauglum with 74; and Willy Wieler with 73.
Oxbow saw the largest pool of candidates vying for six council seats. Elected were Philip Amosah with 191 votes, James Fonstadd 236, Brad Mayer 145, Derrick Menzies 193, and Sylvia Mohrbutter 200, Starr Mercer with193 votes.
In Wawota, Kevin Kay was re-elected as mayor. Six councillors were elected from a pool of 11 candidates: Allan Bunz, Joel Carpenter, Marley Drumm, Brandon Harper, Dwayne Linder, and Nolan Murray.
