The Saskatchewan Health Authority is looking to keep the Redvers Health Centre more open for residents as they've implemented a virtual physician program.
The SHA calls the program a temporary measure to help sustain and support access to emergency health services while they try to stabilize health human resources.
Whenever local physicians are not available at the Redvers Health Centre and local recruitment efforts are ongoing to fill provider vacancies, the virtual physician program will be used to address patients in the ER.
Using HealthLine 811, the program will link up the local healthcare team to an ER physician located elsewhere in the province to help assess, triage, and provide treatment to patients in the ER.
Other rural communities, like Broadview and Kipling, also practice the program, which is being used to provide ongoing access to ER services.
