A dozen postal workers of Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) Local 818 were picketing in front of the main post office in Lacombe on Friday.

The post office in Lacombe is closed.

Several motorists honked their horns and waved in support as they drove by the postal workers.

The strike is disrupting Canada Post's operations nationwide, halting mail and parcel processing and causing immediate service interruptions. The strike follows unresolved issues between CUPW and Canada Post, with the union advocating for better wages, improved benefits, and greater job security.

Canada Post says it has been facing financial challenges, losing $3 billion since 2018, but continues to offer competitive wage increases and job security for its employees.

Canadian Union of Postal Workers says approximately 55,000 workers are striking across the country, claiming little progress has been made in the bargaining process.
