Southwest residents are facing concerns following the postal strike that went into effect this past Friday.

The implications of the postal strike could have a significant impact on the economy, affecting consumers, business owners, investors, and more.

Karla Wiens, chief executive officer for the Swift Current & District Chamber of Commerce, noted that the majority of stores operate a website or online store that will be affected.

"Online sales are slowing down already in anticipation that the package I ordered for a friend or loved one won't arrive on time," she shared. "There's never a good time of year for this to happen, but this is not good timing for any of our business owners who rely on shipping to operate their business successfully."

Community members are encouraged to shop locally to receive items in a timely manner and are advised that businesses may face challenges ordering and restocking products.

"If you're worried about packages not arriving on time, there's a simple solution," she added. "Stroll downtown, go to the malls, or visit our local businesses and they're always happy to help you."
