KINDERSLEY, SK – The Saskatchewan Safety Council is hosting a free Safe Young Driver's Event at Kindersley Composite School on Tuesday, December 3, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The initiative, sponsored by Kelly Insurance Brokers Ltd., aims to address concerning local statistics, with over 100 collisions, 19 injuries, and one fatality occurring in Kindersley annually.

This event is open to high school students who hold a valid driver’s licence and want to gain more confidence navigating urban and rural roads in Saskatchewan. The workshop is strictly informational and will be presented in a positive, open classroom environment. There are no exams, and participants' driving records will not be affected.

What to Expect

Participants will learn valuable skills and best practices for handling hazardous driving conditions, including:

  • Collision avoidance techniques for winter driving, handling skids and hydroplaning, and navigating gravel roads.
  • Traffic guidance tips on intersections, work zones, emergency vehicles, and sharing the road safely.
  • Understanding risk perception and managing risks from distractions, impairment due to substances, fatigue, and emotions.

The session is presented in collaboration with SGI Traffic Safety Promotion and the Acquired Brain Injury Partnership. Following the event, attendees can enjoy refreshments and a pizza dinner.
