As the Canada Post strike continues, residents are feeling the pressure, especially with the holiday season fast approaching. Michael Dumba, a local resident, spoke with Discover Estevan about how the ongoing disruption is affecting his ability to send packages and letters, including Christmas cards for his family.

"I’ve sent out some packages to a friend of mine out in Ontario and Christmas cards to family in Regina," Dumba shared. "I’m glad I’ve gotten some of them out already, but there are still a few more I need to send."

However, with the postal strike ongoing, Dumba is concerned about the impact on future shipments. "This is really uncalled for," he said. "It seems like every couple of years there’s a strike, and this one has come at the worst time. If they plan on striking again, they should try to do it during the summer, not when it affects millions of customers during the holiday season."

The strike is causing frustration for Dumba as a customer, as he had hoped to avoid the holiday rush. "It hurts me because Canada Post is usually the cheaper option. But with the strike, I’m being forced to go with other delivery companies like UPS or Purolator, which cost a lot more," he said.

Despite the frustration, Dumba remains hopeful. "I know it’s tough, especially close to Christmas, but I’m sure this won’t last long," he said. "We’re strong as Canadians, and there are other delivery companies out there that can help."

Dumba also expressed support for the postal workers involved in the strike, acknowledging the difficult situation on both sides. "To the postal workers, we are standing behind you," he said. "We understand that it’s hard for you guys too, and we’re cheering you on. Hopefully, this strike won’t last another two years, and we can reach an agreement soon."

With uncertainty surrounding the future of the strike, Dumba encourages others to stay patient. "Keep your heads up," he said. "We’re all in this together, and hopefully, things will be resolved soon."

As the holiday season approaches, residents and businesses alike are bracing for the continued effects of the postal strike, but the hope remains that a resolution will be reached in time to ensure smooth delivery services for all.
