The Swift Current Comp. Ardens are the SHSAA 5A Volleyball Provincial champions, having capped off a remarkable season on Saturday.
Swift Current scored a perfect 3-0 record on Friday in round-robin action, defeating Prince Albert Carleton, Weyburn, and Saskatoon St. Joseph without losing a set.
Regina Campbell beat the Ardens in three sets to complete round-robin play on Saturday morning.
Swift Current won their pool drawing fourth-ranked Regina LeBoldus in the quarterfinals beating them 25-19 and 25-15.
A second match of the tournament against Saskatoon St. Joesph was one-sided in favour of the Ardens as they smashed them 25-4 and 25-16 propelling them into the finals.
Swift Current knocked off unbeaten Balgonie Greenall 25-15 and 25-23 in the finals to hoist the provincial title.
The Ardens went 56-6 this season winning seven of the nine tournaments they entered. Only three of their losses came to Saskatchewan-based high schools, with the other three coming to Alberta schools.
