For only the second time in school history, the Swift Current Comp. Ardens are 5A Girls' Volleyball Provincial champions.
Swift Current defeated Balgonie Greenall Saturday to capture the provincial title for the first time since 2016.
Ardens co-captain Madison Yates is one of three graduating players and was thrilled to end her high school volleyball career on a high note.
"I knew that we were one of the top teams and I knew we could do it," she said. "I was freaking out when we did it, it was crazy. Especially since I'm graduating, it just makes me so happy."
The big win in Weyburn helped Yates and several of her teammates overcome last year's loss in the provincial finals to St. Mary's.
"After Aleni hit it and we got the kill, I started crying, Aleni started crying," she said. "Everyone started running on the court. In my mind, I was like, we finally won provincials."
Yates, Aleni Tsougranis, and Amryne Duncalfe are the three seniors set to graduate but first, they have to pay up on a bet they made the rookies on the squad.
"If we won provincials, they get to dress the seniors up, so me, Aleni, and Amryne, we're doing that tomorrow," she said. "Then we're going to the Broncos game and get recognized on the ice."
