UPDATE 10:03am: Highway 1 east of Regina has been reopened to the public, but the Ministry of Highway is still not recommending travel on the road. 

From Balgonie to Whitewood, Highway Hotline is showing reduced visibility on Highway 1. Travel is not recommended on this stretch of road. Snow drifts and ice are plaguing the highway all the way to the Manitoba border. 

Back in the southeast, highways around Oxbow, Carnduff, Carrievale and Storthoaks are fully covered with snow with reduced visibility. 

Much of the southeast highways are calling for reduced visibility due to the wind gusts reaching up to 80 km/h. The route from Weyburn to Estevan still shows covered highways with ice underneath. Environment Canada is projecting that the storm will die down as the morning goes on.

If you're planning on travelling to Regina today, you might want to reconsider. Due to the heavy snowfall and strong winds that continue to batter the province, highways around the southeast are seeing poor driving conditions. 

According to the Highway Hotline, the entire stretch of Highway 1 eastbound from Regina to the Manitoba Border is closed due to poor driving conditions.

Highway 39 from Midale to Weyburn are seeing 'Travel Not Recommended' markers, citing loose, drifting snow and reduced visibility as the reason. 

The southeastern corner of the province is seeing travel not recommended as well. Highways around Oxbow, Carnduff, and Gainsborough are all showing poor driving conditions and zero visibility. The Ministry of Highways said that there are packed snow, drifting snow and ice that's causing travel to be ill-advised. 

Travel is also not recommended on Highway 8 northbound from Redvers to Spy Hill due to poor visibility, swirling snow, and ice on the road. 

Motorists will find near zero visibility on Highway 13 from Stoughton to Trossachs. 

Environment Canada says that the systems from Manitoba and the United States causing winter to arrive in the southeast will die down throughout the day.
