Strathmore is expected to be hit by a large dump of snow this weekend.

"A long period of snowfall with total amounts of 20 to 35 cm is expected. Snowfall will begin in southern Alberta this morning, spreading northward through the day. Snowfall intensity will vary through the day and tonight, with general amounts of 5 to 10 cm anticipated by Saturday morning," says a news release from Environment and Climate Canada. "Snowfall will intensify early Saturday morning, with another 10 to 25 cm anticipated by Saturday evening."

The snow will end overnight and into Sunday morning.

Drivers are being warned that visibility may be reduced during the heavy snowfall.

Staff with the organization say to postpone non-essential travel until the snow subsides.
