Charlene Nielson and Lance Aloisio are $100,000 richer, after checking their Western 649 ticket and Extra from the Oct. 2 draw.

Nielson said she took the ticket to the cashier, stunned, and asked her to check it again.

“When I realized it was real, I wanted to tell someone,” she said. “Then I realized I’d left my cell phone at home, so I couldn’t call anyone to tell them.”

The pair is excited to start planning how they will spend the windfall.

“We’re going to purchase a new van, take a trip next year to eastern Canada, and get some new flooring put into our home,” said Aloisio. “It’s shocking and hasn’t sunk in yet, but we’re happy!”

Nielson and Aloisio purchased the winning ticket and extra at Market West Grocer and Bakery in Red Deer.
