The Estevan Kinettes are hoping to make Christmas season a little warmer, as they were collecting pyjamas Friday night for their PJ Project.
"We partnered with the Angel Tree Program and we decided a few years ago that we would like to collect PJ's for the kids on the Angel Tree. They got presents and stocking stuffers, but we thought if we collect PJ's, then the kids can also have pyjamas for Christmas. Because who doesn't like a brand new pair of pyjamas at Christmas time?," shared Susan Colbow, a member of the Kinettes.
The outpouring support of from the community was immense, shared Colbow. The team was set up at Affinity Place last Friday during the first game of the Estevan Bruins vs. Battleford North Stars double-header. She added that they beat last year's number.
"It's been amazing every year, honestly. We actually are doing better than we did last year at this one. We've had about 45 new pairs dropped off and people have purchased over 86 pairs that we've had, so it's very successful."
"Everybody knows that between the Salvation Army, the Christmas Tree Hamper Program, there are always people in need and it seems like it's getting more and more. So we just want to thank the Community who do support us," Colbow added.
The Kinettes will continue collecting pyjamas for the Angel Tree. Community members can drop off their donations at Jenny Joans on 4th Street until December 10th.
