While snow was the main item on the menu last week, Estevan Fire Rescue still had plenty of alarms coming in from across the city.
For the period starting November 18, EFR Fire Chief Rick Davies relayed some of their recent calls.
On that first day at 8 a.m., a crew was dispatched for a commercial fire alarm in Southeast Estevan. Crews responded and found no emergency occurring. They reset the alarm, chalking that up to a possible issue with the alarm system.
Later that day around 3:50 p.m., a dispatch came in of a Carbon Monoxide alarm in Northeast Estevan. When crews responded they found that the alarm was due to construction work in the home. They confirmed that assistance was not required.
On November 19, in the early morning of 2:51 a.m., a crew headed out to a structure fire in the West central part of Estevan. When crews arrived they found that a shed was fully engulfed in fire. Crews extinguished the fire without incident, reporting no injuries with the only damage being to the shed. The fire was deemed suspicious in nature and is currently under investigation.
Later that morning at 9:50 a.m., a motor vehicle collision saw a crew respond in the Northeast area of Estevan. The crew assisted with minor injuries being reported with one vehicle involved.
Then in the afternoon at 1:30 p.m., a crew was dispatched to a commercial fire alarm in the Northeast area of Estevan. Crews responded and found that no emergency occurring. They found that the alarm had accidentally been activated by contractors working on-site.
On November 21, a crew was dispatched to a single-vehicle motor collision at 10:20 p.m. in the south-central area of Estevan. Crews determined after responding that EFR assistance was not required, with no injuries and only minor damage reported.
The 22nd saw another single-vehicle motor vehicle collision called in at 12:45 p.m., this time to the North central part of Estevan. Crews again determined that no assistance was required, though this time there were minor injuries along with minor damage.
The day was rounded off by another call at 8:20 p.m. for a motor vehicle collision, in Northwest Estevan. Crews responded and found that once again no assistance was required with no injuries reported.
Crews capped off their week on November 24 with a call just before 6 p.m. A residential fire alarm was called into the Northeast area of Estevan, but crews were quickly updated that the alarm was cooking related and their assistance was not needed. Crews then stood down in response.
