With the new city council up and running in Swift Current, boards and committees are now open for application.

People looking to have a voice in matters they care about have the chance to have it heard by joining these groups. Helping to make decisions that have lasting impact in the community, members of the public help ensure that Swift Current city council doesn't have to make every decision.

Jackie Schlamp, city clerk for the City of Swift Current, hopes to have all the open seats filled by eager, cooperative citizens.

"We look to the residents within our city to ask them to come and join our boards to help grow and develop the city," said Schlamp. "To reflect the diversity of our people, we need a variety of residents with ideas, skills, leadership and energy to participate and share their knowledge."

In order to apply for the various boards individuals must be 18 years old or older. They need to be a full-time resident of Swift Current.

Seats are open on the Board of Revision, Development Appeals Board, and the Recreation, Parks, and Culture Board. Additionally, there is room on the Street/Facility Naming Advisory Board, the Murals Advisory Board, and the Public Library Board.

"We welcome you to submit your application to get involved," said Schlamp.

Submissions will be accepted until 4 P.M. on Dec. 18, 2024.
