Lacombe City Council approved a new Film Policy to legislate, promote, and encourage film productions within the community.

The Policy establishes a framework for managing and coordinating film production activities. It supports film industry growth, ensures minimal disruption to residents and businesses during filming, and promotes Lacombe as a film-friendly location.

“Our residents know Lacombe is a scenic, must-see community in Alberta,” said Mayor Grant Creasey. “By looking to attract film productions, we will showcase our home to the rest ofthe world. This Policy clarifies our commitment to supporting the film industry, potentially attracting economic development, tourism, and the entertainment industry to Lacombe.”

The Policy includes input from industry experts, including Alberta Film and the Red Deer Polytechnic Film Department, and complements existing municipal legislation.

Going forward, Administration will collaborate with film producers, with Council acting as an advocate for film in Lacombe.

Administration will coordinate with industry professionals to ensure productions minimally impede regular City services and operations and that necessary permits and safety protocols are in place.
