With a new council having their first meeting earlier this week, other organizations around the city are getting used to a shakeup in Estevan's management.
That includes the Estevan Chamber of Commerce, which has an interest in keeping an eye on what the city is doing for businesses.
Executive Director Merissa Scarlett says that she's optimistic about the makeup of the new city council.
"I'm looking forward to it. I feel pretty good. I think it's a good mix of some familiar faces and new faces. I'm new to the Chamber of Commerce, so I mean, I'm willing to work very much for the fresh slate. We had a new Council, a new mayor, so I think it's a good thing, like, we can all work together."
It's pretty early into their term for any in-depth conversations, though Scarlett is hoping she and the community can learn more about them at an upcoming event.
"I know that I have talked to a few, just saying congratulations and that I'm looking forward to meeting with them. I know they're quite busy, but we are hosting the new mayor and majority of the Council at our next Coffee Talk event just to allow our members and businesses to meet them and get to know them a little better and just start those conversations with that advocacy at that local level."
A major issue for many of the councillors during the election was the budget and taking a look at what the city needed.
Scarlett says that it will be exciting to see what the new council makes of the city's finances.
"I am looking forward to seeing what's going come out, and I'm hoping to review it and see what we think of it and then provide some feedback for our members and hopefully just, you know, keep an eye on it. I'm excited to really pay attention to it myself this year and just see where all they're where all their money gets spent and how it all works."
The Coffee Talk with the mayor and council will be held at 8 a.m. at the Days Inn on Wednesday, December 4.
