Saturday was a busy day for Estevan Fire and Rescue after a quiet week with no calls from November 25 to November 30.
On November 30, at around 6 p.m., crews were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision north of Highway 47. Firefighters assisted on the scene. There was no entrapment reported, but one occupant received care from EMS. The nature of the injuries is unknown.
Later that evening, around 8 p.m., a crew responded to a vehicle fire in the central part of the city. On arrival, firefighters found one vehicle fully engulfed in flames, threatening a nearby home and a second vehicle. Crews quickly brought the fire under control, limiting the damage to the one vehicle, which was significantly damaged. The second vehicle and the home sustained minor damage. No injuries were reported.
At about 9 p.m., EFR responded to a commercial fire alarm in the central part of the city. A duty officer investigated and determined there was no emergency. The alarm was believed to have been caused by a faulty detector, and property maintenance was scheduled to investigate further.
The next day, on December 1, at approximately 1:30 p.m., EFR was dispatched to another commercial fire alarm in the central part of the city. Crews determined the alarm was triggered by cooking activities, and their assistance was not required.
