In her final update before the Halloween weekend, Dr. Hinshaw hopes for everyone to have enjoyable day, but to remember that the province is still in the 4th wave of the pandemic, and caution is needed.

By following the precautions, it has been proven to limit the spread of the virus. Hinshaw says, “We’ve shown they work time and time again. Let’s make good choices to ensure there’s no Halloween spike in two weeks from now.”

In the update of Thursday, October 28, the COVID-19 numbers were as follows:

•             There were 531 new cases in the past 24 hours with a positivity rate of 5.4%

•             Hospitalizations dropped by 31 to 779

•             ICU admissions remained the same at 185

•             There were another 12 deaths reported bringing the total to 3,085

•             There are 8,387 active cases in the province

•             There are outbreaks or alerts in 245 schools in the province

•             Cochrane currently has 78 active COVID-19 cases while Rocky View County has 68

Cochrane schools’ alert status:

•             Elizabeth Barrett Elementary School - Alert 5-9 Cases

•             Cochrane Christian Academy, Fireside School, and Manachaban Middle School -Alert 2-4 Cases
