The Estevan Bruins have a chance to shoot up the standings by continuing to get close wins with three games this week.

The Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins are looking to extend a current four-game winning streak as they're on the road tonight to take on the Melfort Mustangs.

Over the past two weeks, the Bruins have managed to eke out four wins against a handful of teams, all of which have been very close matches that the Bruins won by just a single goal.

Head Coach Jason Tatarnic talks about their recent wins over Notre Dame and Weyburn and what they've taken from that.

"We played that really well and you know, we're playing better defensively in our zone and we've been playing some tight games lately and you know, both games went into extra time and one victory was a shootout and the other one was three on three. So I thought the Weyburn game we stayed with it and you know, we're trailing by two and Brady Wilson had an excellent game and scored three straight goals for us, including the game-winner. We had good goaltending from Benny again and we're just, you know, buying into good defensive hockey right now and we just got to keep it going."

Now they're off to Melfort taking on the Mustangs, with Tatarnic predicting another close game for the Bruins.

"I believe we've played them three times already and they've all been one-goal games, they've been tight games and they're a good team, they play well with defence and they have good goaltending and they have a few players that can put the puck in the net. So I think it's going to be a game that's going to be pretty tight and you know, we're each gonna try and take advantage of the other team's mistakes."

Soon afterward on the weekend, the team will have back-to-back games in Nipawin against the Hawks, which Tatarnic hopes will put them a bit further in the standings.

The team has made a good comeback with the last four wins and Tatarnic is hoping this can get them set up for the rest of the season and playoffs.

"From all 12 teams any given night, anyone can beat anyone. The parity's extremely tight this year, whoever makes the playoffs this year has definitely earned it, because there's not much separation from anyone really. For us, you know, being healthy is a key. We're getting (Luke) Hogan back tonight who's been out for a while and we're still missing Owen Simmons and Cody Polumbus. So everyone goes through it. Lately, we've always had a regular lineup, so hopefully we can get healthy and continue that into the new year."

Tonight's game with Melfort begins at 7:30 p.m.
