The Crossfield Hampers Program is now in full swing and needs your help with donations, with Christmas just around the corner.

The Crossfield and Madden Food Bank are currently accepting applications for those in the area in need this holiday season.

Cheryl Longeway and Angela Wigglesworth who are co-founders of the food bank talked about the Christmas hampers.

"Last year, we gave out 84 Christmas hampers," stated Longeway. "They year we are preparing to give out around 100."

Wigglesworth mentioned they have been attending several events, trying to garner donations and funds for the hampers. Everybody working on making the hampers is done on volunteer time.

"The Crossfield Fire Department has been doing Christmas hampers for 30 years, and they're still an active part of the Christmas hampers. It has now become a project under the Crossfield of Madden Food Bank."

They are still working closely with the fire department, selling calendars supporting the hamper program. Multiple local groups are also helping with the hamper program.

"Everyone has just been such tremendous proponents of the Food Bank and of its permanent structure in our town. The community is used to being very generous with our Christmas hamper program, and certainly, this year is no exception to that."

If you are interested in making a donation, buying a calendar, helping out in any way or applying for a hamper, please email crossfieldchristmashampers@gmail.com or call 403-941-2000 and leave a message.

Everything is anonymous, so the only people knowing who is receiving a hamper will be the organizers.

"We're so grateful that to this point, we've been able to hand out over 250 hampers to the community this year," shared Wigglesworth.

The Crossfield and Madden Food Bank opened up for year-round service on January 1st, 2024.
