With slick conditions still prevalent around the southeast after a weekend of freezing rain, it looks like Mother Nature won't quit. Though the Ministry of Highways has handled most highways around the southeast in the last 24 hours, travel to Kipling and around the area is not recommended.
Travel is not recommended on the following roads:
- Highway 47 north from Handsworth to the Highway 1 junction
- Highway 48 eastbound from Kegworth, through Kipling, to the Highway 9 junction
- Highway 9 north from the Moose Mountain Provincial Park to Whitewood and the Highway 1 junction
Snowfall has caused most highways to be partly or fully covered with snow with some ice patches. The highways most affected are:
- Highway 13 east from Stoughton to the Manitoba border, which affects the communities of Kisbey, Carlyle, Forget and Redvers
- Highway 9 from Carlyle through the Moose Mountain Provincial Park
Alongside the loose, drifting snow, poor visibility will affect travel to Regina this morning. Highway 39 from Yellow Grass to Regina is fully covered with snow and shows poor visibility. If you're going through Stoughton, Highway 33 should be okay until you get to Sedley, where conditions worsen with limited visibility and drifting snow.
Windy conditions in the southeast will persist for the rest of the day, with wind gusts reaching up to 60 km/h. This will be blowing loose snow throughout the area. Environment Canada is predicting that calmer conditions will follow tomorrow.
