Arts Humboldt (AH!), an organization dedicated to promoting the performing arts in Humboldt and surrounding areas, had a somewhat quieter year in 2024, but President Brian Grest remains optimistic about the future.
As AH! works to fully recover from the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Grest noted that 2024 served as a year of rebuilding. However, the organization still managed to bring several key events to the community.
"We had a little bit of a quieter year. Again, we're still recovering a little bit from a COVID hangover," said Grest. "We hope in the 2025 year that we become a little more visible and a little more active, but in 2024 we participated or held five different events."
Among the highlights was the popular summer Sizzler barbecue, featuring a concert by Lady Friday, which was well-attended. In May, former Humboldt residents Tanner Hall and Danielle Guina put on a memorable performance for Mother's Day.
The Missoula Children’s Theater production in September provided a musical theater experience for students ranging from kindergarten to grade 12, with about 40 local participants. Throughout the year, AH! also hosted the Kinder Creators program, offering preschool children a chance to explore and express their creativity.
Looking ahead, AH! is gearing up for its biggest event of the year: a concert by Jeffrey Straker on December 19th. According to Grest, interest in the Punnichy born entertainer is strong, promising a fitting conclusion to a year of steady artistic engagement.
"Right now, the ticket sales have been going very, very well. So really looking forward to that one," he said.
As AH! moves into 2025, Grest and the team are eager to increase their visibility and continue supporting the vibrant arts scene in the Humboldt area.
