A previously issued fog advisory by Environment Canada for Airdrie, Crossfield, and surrounding areas in Rocky View County ended on Tuesday morning.
The advisory coincided with a temperature drop and a shift in weather patterns. Monday evening will bring increasing cloud cover, with a 30 per cent chance of flurries overnight. Fog patches will persist, and winds up to 15 km/h will contribute to a low of minus 18. Wind chill values will be near minus 13 this evening and minus 23 overnight.
Tomorrow's day will begin cloudy, with a lingering chance of flurries early in the morning. Fog patches are expected to dissipate by late morning, leaving a mix of sun and clouds.
Winds will remain light at up to 15 km/h, while the temperature will reach a high of minus 16, though wind chill values will make it feel closer to minus 24.
Tuesday night will see the return of cloud cover, with snow beginning near midnight. Accumulations of 2 to 4 centimetres are expected. Temperatures will drop to minus 19, and wind chills will remain at minus 24.
Wednesday will bring continued periods of snow, with a daytime high of minus 15. Clear skies are expected overnight, and temperatures will hold steady at minus 19. By Thursday, December 19, sunny skies will bring slightly warmer conditions, with a daytime high reaching minus 5.
Residents are advised to drive carefully in the fog, turn on headlights to improve visibility and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
