The Lacombe and District Chamber of Commerce has a new board chair.

Dani Ducross took over the position at the AGM at the end of November.

"It's going to be fun," she said. "That board has good energy and Wendy [Buyar] is doing a fantastic job in her role as the executive director. I think it's going to be a good experience for myself because I'm going to get to learn a lot and Wendy and I work well together. I think it's going to be beneficial for the Chamber as well for us to just be able to have such a great energy moving forward."

Ducross has been on the Chamber board for about three years.

She notes a big focus heading into the new year is going to be the annual trade show taking place in April. Ducross says she's also excited about the Discover Lacombe and District app which was recently launched to help showcase what Lacombe has to offer.

Ducross says Lacombe's business community has a lot of positive momentum right now.

"I think business overall is recovering. COVID certainly slowed everybody down and definitely made things change a bit. From what I understand, things seem to be, maybe not coming back to normal, but they've evolved and the new norm is taking over and we're seeing a lot more engagement from business. We're seeing a lot more investment into their future as well as into the betterment of Lacombe."

She says new businesses are coming into town and are staying.

"I think that's all working towards everybody getting excited and trying to get back into the grove of things in a more optimistic positive way," commented Ducross.

The Lacombe and District Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 100-year anniversary in 2024.
