With 2025 on the horizon people are looking back on the year and seeing what went well for the southeast.

In the political world, the province saw an exciting year with an election which tightened the Sask Party's margins over the province.

Estevan MLA and Deputy House Leader Lori Carr says that winning the election was a key moment for the government.

"I think when we look back at 2024 and we especially look back at the election, we need to keep in mind that the Saskatchewan Party government was given a fifth term, which is exceptional in the history of politics. There's only one other government that has had a longer opportunity to serve, so not taking anything for granted. We have lots of work to do to gain some of the support back in our bigger centres, but we really do have a strong base to work from."

For Carr personally, she saw her constituency's boundaries change with another change in vote that led to her getting a better vote share and more votes than the 2020 election.

"My constituency actually got bigger this time around, including Radville and all of that area out there. When I looked at my numbers from last time around, they were a little bit lower. Obviously the Buffalo Party had taken some of that share up this time around. I gained a good portion of that support back and so just happy to see that people can see the hard work that I'm doing for the constituency and I'm committed to continuing to do that work."

While no out-of-the-ordinary challenges popped up for Carr, she says that her work for constituents is always complicated.

"There are always challenges with the job of ensuring that people have the right health care at the right time in the right place or that we're ensuring our children are receiving the education they receive. Those are challenges that are ongoing, but I think you can see that we're trying to address the challenges that we have had over the past year."
