More than 3.2 million Albertans are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19 after receiving two doses.

Alberta Health Services says that since September 15, approximately 264,000 Albertans have received the first dose of vaccine, and 293,000 have received a second dose.

Premier Kenney says, "More and more Albertans are choosing to be protected against COVID-19 because of the undeniable fact that vaccines work and they save lives. It’s great news that we’ve reached this milestone that will also help to ease the pressure on our health-care system in the future.”

As of October 25, anyone wishing to access a business or venue participating in the Restrictions Exemption Program or (REP) will need to show proof of full vaccination.

Those who do not wish to be vaccinated must provide a negative, privately paid COVID-19 test taken 72 hours prior to entry of a REP establishment.

Officials continue to stress the safety of vaccines with Minister of Health, Jason Copping saying, "We are committed to ensuring as many Albertans as possible get vaccinated as soon as possible. That’s why clinics and pharmacies across the province continue to offer vaccinations with little to no wait. If you haven’t already done so, now is the time to get vaccinated. If you have concerns, speak to a trusted health-care professional and get the information you need to make an informed decision.”

To date, 87 per cent of eligible Albertans have received one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

Any Albertan over the age of 75, those who have certain underlying health conditions, as well as any First Nation, Metis, or Inuit person over the age of 65 are eligible for a booster dose of the COVID vaccine.  For more information on how to book a first dose, a second dose, or a booster dose, click HERE.
