The Red Deer Rebels comeback fell short Tuesday night at the Peavey Mart Centrium against Swift Current, as the Broncos left town with a 5-4 win.

Red Deer got off to a hot start with goals by Beckett Hamilton and Trae Wilke early in the first.

The Broncos stormed back however with three goals of their own to close out the opening period.

Clarke Caswell would put the visitors up 4-2 at 14:56 of the second on the power play.

Parker Rondeau added another less than a minute later to make it 5-2.

The Rebels would put up a fight in the third with a pair of goals by Kalan Lind, the final goal on the power play, but it was not enough as the Broncos pulled out the 5-4 victory.

Both teams finished the night 1-for-4 with the man-advantage.

Swift Current outshot Red Deer 35-33.

With the loss, Red Deer falls to 15-14-1-2 on the season and sit in ninth spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Rebels are off on their Christmas break and will return to action at home against Edmonton on Fri, Dec. 27 (7 p.m.). Red Deer will conclude the home-and-home series in Edmonton on Sun. Dec 29 (4 p.m.).
