It feels like deja vu all over again.
Southeast Saskatchewan is being hit with another round of snow and wind today, as a weaker system settles in the area. Poor driving conditions and reduced or little visibility are being observed on the highways and roads around Estevan.
As a result of the poor road conditions, South East Cornerstone Public School Division has cancelled all buses in the following communities:
- Estevan City and Rural
- Macoun
- Weldon
- Lampman
- Stoughton
- Alameda
- Carnduff
- Carievale
- Oxbow
- Midale
Reports on social media sent to DiscoverEstevan shows that travelling outside of the city has little to near-zero visibility. Highway Hotline shows that the following highways have 'Poor Visibility' markers.
- Highway 47 south from Stoughton, through Estevan, all the way to the US Border
- Highway 39 from Midale, through Estevan, all the way to North Portal
- Highway 18 east from Oungre to Alameda
- Highway 9 from Northgate to the junction near Highway 18
- Highway 361 east through Lampman to the junction near Highway 9
If you're travelling to Regina tonight, you might encounter poor driving conditions. If you're travelling through Highway 39, you'll hit poor visibility from Estevan to Midale, clear through Weyburn, but the conditions will worsen from Yellow Grass. If you decide to take the route on Highway 47 to Stoughton then transfer on Highway 33, you will encounter poor visibility all the way through.
If you choose to travel today, don't forget to look at the roads ahead of time by visiting the Trent's Tire Road Reports Link here. The weather could turn at any moment, so you can stay informed anytime with the Carstar Hail Otto Weather Page.
