The Mind Body Spirit Wellness Fair in Lake Lenore, held last Saturday, has gained traction since its opening year last year. The gathering brought in more people and from further afield, all exploring the possibilities of various healing properties brought by practitioners of various healing arts. Saturday's smoke the first of many such events this summer
Motorists driving north of Humboldt around midday on Saturday encountered an experience that’s become more frequent on the prairies. Off in the distance, a visible upper air haze gathered and began to obscure the distant trees lines. A few more kilometres on the road and visual references at the side of the road vanished as vehicles were enveloped in a pall of smoke. Link to the full story here.
Wynyard Elementary School one of 10 recipients of Mosaic Nutrition Challenge funding
The Mosaic School Nutrition Challenge invites schools to enter a contest that explains the importance of nutrition in school success and outlines the importance of nutrition learning in and out of the classroom. PARTY program delivers an impact-filled experience on trauma and injury
May 8 and 9 saw dozens of students gather at the Humboldt Uniplex for the annual PARTY program, hosted by Safe Communities Humboldt. PARTY stands for Prevent Alcohol Related Trauma in Youth, and Grades 9 to 12 students from Humboldt and surrounding schools were able to take part. Link to the full story here.
Humboldt and District Chamber pens letter of concern over Federal budget
The Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce expressed concerns about a Federal Budget measure that will impact business owners, farmers and those dispensing commercial property. Chamber Director Sarah McInnis sent a letter on behalf of the Chamber to Federal Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland expressing “deep concerns regarding the proposed increase in the capital gains inclusion rate outlined in Budget 2024.” Link to the full story here.
Original Humboldt unfolds with talk by U of S archeology professor
Since the official confirmation of its location in 1995, the site of the Original Humboldt telegraph station and its small settlement has been of great interest to historians and archeologists. The site has seen digs over the past number of years by Western Heritage, the Saskatchewan Archeological Society, and now the University of Saskatchewan Archeological Field School.
On the evening of Thursday, May 23, Dr. Glenn Stuart delivered an informal and informative chat to a packed house in the Humboldt and District Museum. Stuart talked about the Field School’s involvement, saying that his students are relative newcomers to the site, but that it serves as a wonderful training ground and the digs have yielded numerous artifacts and some surprises. Majority of teachers say ‘no’ to collective bargaining agreement
For the second time Saskatchewan teachers have rejected the Provincial Collective Bargaining Agreement.

MLA Donna Harpauer bids farewell in the Legislature
As Saskatchewan heads into an election this fall, the face of the ruling Saskatchewan Party will see considerable change with numerous MLAs announcing their intention to step out of provincial politics. None would be more recognized that Deputy Premier, Minister of Finance and long-time local MLA Donna Harpauer.
