The first full month of summer brought plenty of news in different sectors including local housing, nursing education and the Broncos. There was also a couple of popular of car shows to end the month.

Council approves residential rezoning bylaws
At Monday night’s Humboldt City Council meeting, Council proceeded with second and third readings on a pair of rezoning bylaws that would allow for residential development in a pair of city properties.
Land parcels designated CC and DD are in the southeast corner of the city on the east side of 101st Street.

St. Peter's College and USask announce full four-year Bachelor of Nursing program in Muenster
There’s excitement in the air at Muenster’s St. Peter’s College as the College and the University of Saskatchewan jointly announced that USask’s full four-year Nursing Degree program will be available at the College.
A joint release from St. Peter’s College and the USask College of Nursing states that the expanded partnership reflects the “learn where you live” philosophy, giving students from east central Saskatchewan the opportunity to study nursing closer to home.

Humboldt Broncos hire Brayden Klimosko as new Head Coach and GM
The Humboldt Broncos are proud to announce the hiring of Brayden Klimosko as the next Head Coach and GM, effective immediately.
Klimosko is no stranger to the roots of the community and the organization. Born and raised in Humboldt, his skates hit the ice at the Elgar Petersen Arena as a youngster and eventually played for the Broncos for three full seasons from 2005-2008 winning two SJHL Championships and one National Championship

Humboldt and Muenster Co-ops will merge on January 1, 2025
It took less than half an hour for explanations, a question-and-answer period, and voting to conclude on Wednesday night as Humboldt Co-op members deliberated on the proposed amalgamation of the Humboldt and Muenster Co-ops.
Like the vote with Muenster members the night before, the decision was a unanimous “yes” to proceed. Forty-eight Humboldt Co-op members, many with dual membership in the Muenster Co-op cast their ballots at Humboldt’s Legion Hall and at the Lanigan Legion.

Bruno sparkles with another successful show and shine
It was a perfect Sunday to go for a drive to Bruno to check a wide assortment of cars at the 18th annual Show and Shine.
With plenty of sunshine, a little cloud cover and a nice breeze the event was once again a big hit.

Watrous Fun Run 2024 - A day for shine and stories
While the wind picked up on Saturday afternoon, no one at the 33rd annual Watrous Fun Run Show and Shine minded the reprieve from last week’s heat. Cars, trucks, motorcycles and even more innovative vehicles lined the newly refurbished Main Street for the show.
