Suspect in local robberies deceased following police chase

The hunt for a suspect involved in a string of robberies across east central Saskatchewan came to an end in a field following a chase with RCMP. 

Joseph “Joey” Desjarlais, age 34, was wanted in robberies near Naicam, Humboldt and in Yorkton. Multiple RCMP units were involved in the hunt for Desjarlais when a report came in about a presence in the Fishing Lake First Nation area.

Support and services young people need can now be found in one location in Humboldt

Saskatchewan's first Integrated Youth Services Site opened its doors in Humboldt this afternoon inside of Partners Family Services 

HOMEBASE will now allow young people aged 12 to 25 along with their caregivers to have access to resources, services and support at one location. They will have access to mental health and addictions services, physical health services, peer supports, education, employment and training supports. cultural and traditional supports. and social and community supports.

Humboldt approves bylaw on residential expansion

Humboldt’s anticipated population growth has the City of Humboldt Council and Administration exploring possibilities for future urban development. At its regular monthly meeting on September 23, City Council entertained a report and hosted a public hearing on a proposed plan and bylaw to develop an area in the city’s northwest.

Village of Pilger opens new water treatment plant

The Village of Pilger celebrated the opening of a new water treatment plant with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, September 21.  

The completion of the new plant marks a significant milestone for the village and its residents, made possible through funding from the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP).
