The Red Deer Rebels were held off the scoreboard for most of the game Monday night, as team dropped its fourth straight losing 2-1 to Lethbridge at Peavey Mart Centrium.
Brayden Edwards opened the scoring for the Hurricanes at 4:55 of the second period with his 16th goal of the season.
Noah Chadwick would put Lethbridge up 2-0 early in the third with a blast from the left circle.
With goalie Chase Wutzke on the bench, Kalan Lind scored his fourth of the season on the power play for the Rebels with 33 seconds left in the game to make things interesting but it was not enough as the Hurricanes held on for the 2-1 victory.
Lethbridge outshot Red Deer 30-28. The Rebels were 1-for-5 on the power play while the Hurricanes went 0-for-6.
With the loss, the Rebels fall to 15-17-1-2 on the season and sit in ninth spot in the Eastern Conference. Lethbridge's record improves to 19-12-1-1, good enough for a tie for third spot in the Eastern Conference with 40 points.
The Rebels return to the ice Friday night at home against Calgary. Puck drop goes at 7 p.m. Red Deer then welcomes the Regina Pats on Saturday with another 7 p.m. start time.
