Winter made its presence felt, a new (old) face as mayor, and the return of moonlight madness highlighted November in Humboldt. Here's a look back at some of the top stories for the month.
City wrestles day and night with snow removal following first winter blast
This was no ordinary winter entry snow event that crossed Saskatchewan over the last couple days. The Humboldt area was hard hit with heavy snowfall for a 24-hour period, accompanied by winds gusting to 70 km an hour reducing visibility and pushing snow into hard packed drifts.
It’s been a challenging couple of days for City of Humboldt Public Works crews who have been mobilized in round the clock shifts to plow the heavy volume of snow. With main arteries opening up, the city will begin to concentrate on priority 2 and 3 roadways within the community.

Winter hits Saskatchewan with another knockout blow
Saskatchewan is shoveling itself out of another winter storm to begin the week.
There are no official snowfall numbers from this weekend’s storm for the Humboldt area, but Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorologist Rose Carlsen reported in the area surrounding Saskatoon, North Battleford and Prince Albert, there was between 20-30 cm of snow this past weekend, which is likely the amount of the Humboldt region received.

Rob Muench elected as mayor of Humboldt
For a second time, Rob Muench will be the Mayor of Humboldt.
The unofficial results from Wednesday’s Civic Election saw Muench named as the mayor-elect with 988 votes.

Santa Parade and Moonlight Madness draw hundreds to Humboldt's downtown
The sidewalks were cleared, the roads were ready, and the weather cooperated on Thursday night for a fantastic Moonlight Madness and Santa Claus Parade experience. Hundreds of shoppers and sightseers lined Main Street and 9th Street for the parade.
There were all manners of vehicles dressed up with lights, garlands, ribbons and bows, from tractors and the Fire Department's heavy equipment to beautiful antique trucks and horse drawn carriages. It was an outstanding and colorful effort by local businesses and organizations to put together the first Santa Claus Parade

Berries bound Marek Yeager from Muenster commits to NJCAA I school Hutchinson Community College
To say the past summer has been an all-out, pedal to the medal experience for right-handed pitcher Marek Yeager would be the understatement of the local sports year. At the end of it all, it’s culminated with Yeager signing on with Hutchinson Community College, an NJCAA – Division I school.
Yeager has also signed on to the Saskatoon Berries Academy in Saskatoon. The newly named facility and program, in conjunction with the fledgling WCBL Saskatoon based squad, provides for training and developmental skills to allow players like Yeager to reach their full potential.
