The Red Deer Rebels almost came back to halt their losing skid Saturday night at the Peavey Mart Centrium...almost.

Red Deer was going into the match on a five-game losing streak, and unfortunately lost 4-3 in overtime.

Ten minutes into the first period, the home team was already down 2-0 to the Pats. Rebels goalie, Peyton Shore, was pulled near the end of the first frame after being injured by Regina forward Anthony Wilson, who was given a major and a game misconduct. Chase Wutzke came into the game to replace Shore.

Then it became a back and forth battle with the Rebels' Matthew Gard scoring in the second and Derek Thurston scoring at the 6:23 mark of the third. The game was then tied at 2.

Regina would get their third goal of game to go ahead, but just over a minute later Trae Wilke would score his 7th goal of the season to once again tie the match at 3.

Unfortunately for the home team, and the Centrium crowd of just over 4000, The Pats would get the game winning goal two minutes into OT.

The Rebel's record now stands at 15-18-2 and leaves them in 9th place in the Eastern Conference of the WHL.

Red Deer will continue it's home stand when they host the Saskatoon Blades this Tuesday night at the Peavey Mart Centrium. Game time is 7 pm.
