A toddler from Lake Manitoba First Nation is suffering severe injuries.
On January 5th at 3:05 a.m., Lundar / Ashern RCMP received a request for assistance from EMS on a report of an unconscious 16-month-old boy at his home.
When officers responded to the scene, they were informed the boy was suffering from severe injuries which were consistent with being assaulted. The boy's mother, a 19-year-old woman from Lake Manitoba First Nation, was arrested on scene and remains in police custody. The boy was transported to a hospital in Winnipeg. Since then, he has been upgraded to stable condition.
In order to protect the identity of the victim, the accused woman will not be identified.
Lundar / Ashern RCMP, along with assistance from RCMP Major Crime Services, continue to investigate.
