The Estevan Police Service (EPS) is set for a transformative year in 2025, with new initiatives, an expanded team, and advanced technology aimed at boosting community safety.

One of the key changes is the addition of three new officers, which will enhance the force’s ability to meet growing community demands. The move reflects EPS's ongoing commitment to public safety and to maintaining an effective law enforcement presence.

Another major development is the introduction of an intensive eight-day leadership training course for all supervisory roles. The program is designed to instill shared values and improve consistency in leadership across the department, enhancing internal collaboration and communication. This effort underscores EPS's priority of strengthening the leadership skills needed to navigate increasingly complex public safety challenges.

EPS is also preparing for the launch of Next Generation 911 (NG911) in March 2025, which will modernize emergency dispatch systems.

Mental health and addiction services will also see an increased focus in 2025. EPS is considering an expansion of its Police and Crisis Team (PACT), which collaborates with community organizations to assist individuals in crisis. Adding an officer to this unit is expected to help better address these pressing challenges and provide much-needed support for vulnerable community members.

EPS also aims to strengthen its ties to the community through outreach initiatives. Engaging local schools with programs focused on crime prevention and social responsibility will be a core part of the department’s strategy in the year ahead.

With additional personnel, cutting-edge technology, and community-focused initiatives, 2025 promises to be a year of growth and innovation for the Estevan Police Service. These changes reflect a proactive effort to enhance safety, improve emergency response, and foster meaningful connections within the community.
