It was a tough start to January for Estevan Fire Rescue as the southeast felt some extremely cold temperatures as calls were rolling in.

EFR Chief Rick Davies sent in some of the calls that they've responded to over the start of 2025.

In the dead of night on New Year's Day at 3:30 a.m., a crew was alerted to a commercial fire alarm in the central part of the city. After arriving crews found the sprinkler system had activated but no fire was present. The crews assisted with shutting down the system.

A busy day started up on January 3 at around 10 a.m. with a crew being notified of a concern regarding possible smoke coming from a building in the Northeast area of the city. The duty officer responded and after investigating found that no fire was occurring.

Later on at 12:30 p.m., a crew was dispatched to a two-vehicle collision in the central part of the city. Crews assisted at the scene and found only minor damage with no injuries reported from the incident.

Ending the day at 7 p.m., another crew was dispatched to a vehicle vs wildlife incident on a highway near Frobisher. Crews responded to the scene and assisted with no injuries reported.

The next day on January 4 a crew was dispatched to a commercial fire alarm in the North Central part of the city just before 10 a.m. Crews found after investigating that a sprinkler system had been activated with no fire being found. Crews shut down the sprinkler system before returning to the station.

On January 5, just after 9 a.m., a crew received a dispatch for a commercial fire alarm in the South end of the city. After responding and investigating they found that once again a sprinkler system had been activated with no fire occurring. The sprinkler system was shut down before the crew returned to the station.
