Now that the Canada Post strike has been over for some time, domestic services have returned to normal.
As of Monday (January 6), Canada Post reinstated their on-time service guarantees and full-service levels for domestic parcels.
They have also returned back to their normal processing levels across Canada, including in the rural and remote areas, but they are saying there will still be a bit of a delay with their domestic Transaction Mail.
Canada Post workers are still processing the accumulated domestic Transaction Mail, while still working through new mail coming in, so they are advising everyone that delivery delays for Transaction Mail, such as letters, bills, and statements, can be expected, as they are several days behind their service standard.
On top of that, their Neighbourhood Mail program, which allows people to send mail to targeted audiences and create mass awareness by sending out things like flyers or product samples, is also still delayed.
Canada Post is still processing the significant mail they received for the Neighbourhood Mail program, so business customers should expect the delivery date to be delayed by several days.
There is also a backlog of international mail, which postal workers are working through to process and ship, so a several-day delay for international packages is still expected.
"We thank Canadians for their patience these past few weeks as we've worked to safely restore normal operations while managing significant holiday volumes," said Canada Post in a release. "While we've stabilized our operations and taken care of the parcels in our network, we continue to work through higher volumes of mail."
