As the new year begins, Central Alberta residents can expect several federal and provincial tax credits and benefit payments in the coming weeks.
Here’s what to look out for, starting with payments scheduled this week.
Advanced Canada Workers Benefit (ACWB)
The first payment of the Advanced Canada Workers Benefit, a federal program supporting low-income workers, is set for today (Jan. 10). This advance payment helps eligible individuals and families supplement their earnings. Additional payments are scheduled for Wednesday, July 11, and Thursday, Oct. 10.
Canada Carbon Rebate (CCR)
Albertans will receive the first quarterly Canada Carbon Rebate of 2025 on Wednesday, Jan. 15. Previously known as the Climate Action Incentive Payment, this federal rebate offsets carbon pricing for eligible residents. Future payments are scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, Tuesday, July 15, and Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Canada Child Benefit (CCB)
Families in Central Alberta with children under 18 can expect the next Canada Child Benefit payment on Monday, Jan. 20. This federal, tax-free monthly payment provides financial support with maximum annual amounts of:
- Children under six: Up to $7,787 per child ($648.91 per month)
- Children aged six to 17: Up to $6,660 per child ($555 per month)
The CCB is income-tested, with benefits decreasing as household incomes exceed $36,502. Additional payment dates include Tuesday, Feb. 20, Thursday, March 20, and Tuesday, April 17.
Alberta Child and Family Benefit (ACFB)
The next Alberta Child and Family Benefit, a provincial program supporting families with children under 18, will be paid on Thursday, Feb. 27. The program consists of a base and working component, with maximum annual amounts as follows:

Base component
One child: $1,330
Two children: $1,995
Three children: $2,660
Four or more children: $3,325 -
Working component
One child: $681
Two children: $1,301
Three children: $1,672
Four or more children: $1,795
The base component is reduced for incomes over $24,467, while the working component decreases above $41,000.
Goods and Services Tax (GST) credit
The GST credit, a federal quarterly payment aimed at low- and modest-income individuals and families, will be next paid on Friday, April 4. Maximum annual amounts for the 2023 base year include:
- $519 for individuals
- $680 for married or common-law couples
- $179 per child under 19
