The Red Deer Christmas Bureau had a busy holiday season.

The organization distributed 900 hampers to Central Albertans and served nearly 800 children in the region over the holidays.

Teresa Kutynec, President of the Red Deer Christmas Bureau said the need is on par with 2023.

“There's about 1,000 streets, avenues, and crescents in Red Deer, and we help one person on every street in Red Deer,” Kutynec said.

In 2025, the Red Deer Christmas Bureau will continue fundraising efforts.

On Jan. 11, the bureau is holding the third annual Book and Bottle Drive between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., in support of the literacy centre.

Through the book drive, the bureau is able to provide three books to each child, giving out about 2,700 books last year.

“This is one way we can fundraise offseason and help our literacy centre inside the bureau,” Kutynec said. “We believe education is the key to everything.”

The bureau accepts donations year-round, with a focus on encouraging family togetherness.

“We love games, puzzles, books, and things that families can do together,” Kutynec said.

Anyone interested in donating is encouraged to call the Red Deer Christmas Bureau at 403-347-2210 or visit their website for more information.
