Gusty northern winds and dropping temperatures didn’t put a chill on the St. Gregor Poker Rally this Saturday. Dozens of sleds gathered at the St. Gregor Community Hall to register and meet to hit the trails. Visitors stopped by to pick up poker hands and enter for countless draws, the 50-50 and grab a smokie or beef on a bun. The funds stay in St. Gregor to help the community hall. As always, many thanks to the dozens of local donors who provided merchandise for the draws.
Many of those sleds made their way to Lake Lenore’s Community Hall for the Wildlife Federations annual Fish Smoker. Volunteers and representatives from the Federation manned the smoking barrels, turning out succulent and precision spiced fillets of white fish.
Reps from the Wildlife Federation reported a catch around equal to last year's but with larger fish, meaning more meat per fillet and a hearty meal for those who came out.
This coming weekend is the annual Lions’ Fish Derby on Lenore Lake with another gathering and plenty more prizes and aquatic adventures to be had.
