Update:

The Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section have completed an investigation into an armed robbery at a business on Reichley Street in Red Deer.

As a result, 49-year-old Robert Boy Idayan of Red Deer was arrested.

He has been charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery – with a firearm x3
  • Disguised with intent to commit offence x3

He was released on an undertaking with conditions.

He is scheduled to appear in court on March 31, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.

Original story:

On Dec. 22, 2024, at approximately 6:32 a.m., the Red Deer RCMP received a report of a panic alarm at a business located on Reichley Street in Red Deer.

When police arrived, it was determined that an unknown male had entered the business with a firearm, pointed it at the worker, and demanded money.

The suspect then fled the area in a silver Toyota SUV.

Red Deer RCMP were actively investigating the incident and were seeking assistance from the public.

Anyone who was in the area during the time of the incident, who had dash camera footage was asked to contact the Red Deer RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
