The Red Deer Rebels lost a hard-fought tilt against the Regina Pats 4-3 on Wednesday night.
The Pats opened the scoring with 2:50 left in the first period when forward Keets Fawcett beat Rebels netminder Chase Wutzke with a quick wrist shot.
The Rebels tied things up early in the second when defenceman Luke Vlooswyk hammered home a pass from Parker MacDougall going bar down past Pats goalie Ewan Huet for his second goal of the season.
Red Deer took the lead just over a minute later on a greasy goal by Nolan Schmidt, who stole the puck from a Pats defender as he crashed into his own goalie. Schmidt was able to slide the puck into the net through Huet's legs.
The Pats would storm back scoring three unanswered goals.

Regina took the lead just over a minute later when Zach Pantelakis deflected a Reese Hamilton shot past Wutzke.
Zachary Lansard made it 4-2 early in the third, with what would end up being the game-winning goal.
The Rebels would make it interesting with a third-period wrap-around goal from Samuel Drancak.
Red Deer was unable to find the equalizer with Wutzke on the bench.
The Pats outshot Red Deer 36-24 on the night. The Rebels were 0-for-3 on the power play, while Regina went 1-for-4.
Red Deer (15-21-3-2) has now lost 10 straight dating back to Dec. 17. Their last win was at home against Kamloops on Dec. 14.
The Rebels continue their Saskatchewan road trip Friday in Saskatoon versus the Blades starting at 6 p.m. MT.
