The Melville Millionaires would take advantage of a slow start from the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings, and held on to a slim lead to pick up a 3-1 win Friday night. The loss would end the five-game winning streak of the Red Wings, but they continue to hold first place in the Viterra Division after the Yorkton Terriers fell against the Melfort Mustangs.

Jadon Iyogun would open the scoring in the first period for Melville, as he beat Angelo Zol with 5:04 remaining in the first period. The first would see the Red Wings manage just five shots on goal, while Melville had 15.

The second period would see the Millionaires held to just five shots on goal, and the Red Wings put up 14. Neither ream would be able to score with Zol and Melville goalie Nick Genette standing tall in the crease.

A similar number of shots were put on goal in the third period with Weyburn again testing Genette 14 times. The first goal of the period, though, would come from Melville as Brendan Olson scored 2:50 into the middle frame to put the home team up 2-0.

Weyburn responded less than a minute later. Ryder Rommelaere would find the back of the net 3:45 into the period. His fourth of the season, it was assisted by Drew Molde.

The final goal of the game would come from the Millionaires, though, as Devon Winder scored into an empty-net with 1:04 remaining in the period.

The Red Wings will now get ready to take on the La Ronge Ice Wolves at home Saturday night. The Red Wings picked up a 3-2 shootout win over the Ice Wolves Tuesday night in the first game of La Ronge's road trip. The puck drops at Crescent Point Place at 7 p.m.
