The Red Deer Rebels came close to ending their 10-game losing streak Friday night in Saskatoon, however, the Blades had other ideas.

Saskatoon scored three unanswered goals for a 4-3 overtime win at SaskTel Centre. The Rebels are 2-0-2 versus the Blades this season, with three of the four games going to extra time.

Red Deer took an early lead on Ty Coupland's first goal as a Rebel, beating Saskatoon goalie Evan Gardner 2:01 into the period.

The Blades tied things up shortly after on the powerplay as Graydon Siepmann found the back of the net, slipping one past a screened Chad Wutzke.

The Rebels regained the lead late in the period on a shorthanded goal by Brett Calhoon while Red Deer was killing off a five-minute powerplay.

Calhoon scored his second of the night early in the second with a wrist shot from the point to beat Gardner at the 3:07 mark giving Red Deer a 3-1 lead.

Saskatoon would storm back in the third as Cooper Williams took the game over. First, he deflected a David Lewandowski point shot past Wutzke to make it a one-goal game. Then he found the back of the net on the powerplay to tie the game at three.

Wutzke made several key saves to send the game to overtime.

Williams was at it again, this time assisting on the game-winning goal as he sprung Hayden Harsanyi on a breakaway for the game-winner just 56 seconds into the extra frame.

Saskatoon outshot Red Deer 34-20 on the night. The Rebels were 0-for-2 on the powerplay, while the Blades went 2-for-4.

Red Deer is 0-8-3-0 in its last 11 games while Saskatoon ended a three-game winless streak and now sit in second spot in the WHL Eastern Conference with 51 points.

The Rebels are in Prince Albert on Saturday night to face the Raiders at the Art Hauser Centre. Puck drop is at 6 p.m.
